THE CONTEMPORARY FAMILY OF MAN - 1968 to the present
a very private view
More than 900 works by over 300 artists from nearly 30 countries.
Conceived as a celebration of corporality, the Collection. It owes its unique brilliance not just to the large body of work from leading international artists it assembles but equally to its unflagging dedication to a particular theme, and the wide number of contrasts it affords between the positions of established art world figures and those of rising young artists. The Collection covers the period from 1968 to the present day.
It explores the whole spectrum of themes related to the human lifecycle from conception and birth to death and decay - The Contemporary Family of Man - with a special interest shown in the body as a social, political sexual and religious entity.
